generosidad
Laurie DiProspero poured us a big cup of generosidad this month.
Laurie once again has named the 4Walls Project as charity of the month for Union Coffee Roasters, her business at 900 Jefferson Road in Rochester.
¡Fiesta!
Spay and neuter clinic
Hilton High School, a loyal and long-time supporter of 4Walls, is sponsoring a spay/neuter clinic in El Sauce this November.
“Did you know that in seven years nearly 5000 kittens could be born from one unspayed female cat and her offspring,” asks Spanish teacher Michele Ariola? “Because of the success of our first clinic, we are partnering with NicaVets for another clinic.”

… the sun stood like a griddle
From the Espinoza family
A song about a house
Maria Gillard, a Rochester songwriter, traveled to El Sauce in January. She wrote this song about her experience.
LADRILLO A LADRILLO (Brick by Brick)
It’s January in El Sauce, eighty-five degrees
Juan and Juanita and her friends play games in the neighborhood
We Americans are going there to help build a new house
With four brick walls, four brick wallsNow, some families, with ten or more persons,
live in houses made of tarps with holes in the roofs.
When it rains the adobe walls begin to crumble
And then these poor families are sad and humiliatedRefrain:
Brick by brick, board by board
Strong hands together, we build a home
while building trust and a bond
in our hearts, hearts and homeAll of us, the children, and the neighbors work in the heat
Pepe, the chief mason, puts us to work with a smile.
He says,” Cut the cables, hose the bricks, dig a trench here,”
We are happy while we are working all dayThe family of Juan and Juanita soon has a home
Sturdy and strong with a door and a window
When it rains in October, they will not have to worry at all
because once and for all, their home is safe and warmEs enero en El Sauce, ochenta y cinco grados
Nosotros Americanos vamos alli a ayudar
